FPGA Conference Europe, Munich, July 05 – 07, 2022

12. August 2022

At this year’s renowned FPGA Conference Europe (https://www.fpga-conference.eu/), Mr. Kuhn gave the following presentations in front of a large audience
“Bitstream encryption – The easy way with PetaLinux , Bootgen , FPGA Manager und CLI” and
“Open source  toolchain for the development of FPGAs of multiple vendors”.

The participants were informed by the two presentations about how easy it is now to encode bitstreams from FPGAs and to use existing open source tools in FPGA development

1. HTV-presentation:
Open source toolchain for the development of FPGAs of multiple vendors

In addition to using the manufacturer’s software for the synthesis, RTL generation, technology mapping, optimization, place&route (PnR) and bitstream generation steps, open source tools can also be used as alternative. In this seminar, a open source corresponding tool chain will be presented to the participants. And the full workflow will be demonstrated with an ULX3S-Board from Lattice.

2. HTV-presentation:
Bitstream encryption – The easy way with PetaLinux, Bootgen, FPGA-Manager und Command Line Interface

Bitstream encryption is an important part of the overall concept not only in security-relevant applications. Since 2019 Xilinx offers a very simple way for bitstream encryption and decryption with the FPGA Managerin PetaLinux. In the seminar, participants learn: 1) Practical execution of bitstream encryption (host computer) 2) File transfer over Ethernet of the encrypted bitstream between host computer an FPGA board 3) Bitstream decryption (FPGA Board with PetaLinux, FPGA-Manager and Bootgen)
